David Griggs started Griggs Engineering in 2016 as a Design Build Firm providing design and construction services supporting the Washington, DC market. Prior to starting Griggs Engineering, David worked as a Structural Engineer and a Building Code Official in Washington DC. David has over fourteen years of experience as a Structural Engineer within the construction industry, four of those years in the consulting engineering field designing residential and commercial spaces.

David provides leadership by maintaining direct involvement in planning, design, and production of projects. His dedication to providing effective and efficient services to our clients has resulted in long-term client relationships. David has successfully designed a wide range of complex commercial, residential and hospitality building projects with wood, steel, and concrete.

David has nearly two decades of experience evaluating structural failures, existing conditions, and providing sophisticated engineering solutions. David takes a hands-on approach for his design projects from initial start-up through final construction.

Griggs Engineering holds licenses professional engineering certifications in seven states:  MD, DC, VA, NC, WA, TX & FL  David is ICC certified, a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and serves on the board of the District of Columbia Code Officials Association (DCCOA).
